Tuscaloosa Home Educators (THE) is a support and resource group for home educators in Tuscaloosa and surrounding communities. THE membership is open to families who are schooling their children at home or anyone actively supportive of home education. Members who are currently home educating their children must be doing so in accordance with the laws of Alabama (see Forms page for an analysis of Alabama law).
Please note that THE is not a church school so your family cannot enroll in THE for schooling. We are happy though to give information on church schools in the Tuscaloosa area.
Membership is $10 annually. A membership form may be downloaded from this site and mailed to THE; P.O. Box 202; Northport, AL 35476.
Membership in THE entitles member families to participate in THE sanctioned activities (e.g. sports teams, field trips, choir, Geo Bee, honor society, used book sale, parent workshops); discount membership in Homeschool Legal Defense Association; a yearly directory of members; and inclusion on an e-letter and print newsletter list.
Members in THE are not required to adhere to a particular statement of faith. However, the leadership of THE does believe in the authority and inerrancy of the Bible and that it is the parents' God-given role and responsibility to train and educate their children in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord." You may view the Bylaws of Tuscaloosa Home Educators on the Forms, Lists, etc. page.
Please check our Calendar for THE events and other happenings as well as the Current News page for other things which might be of interest.
